April 7, 2020 Election
Proceeding as Scheduled
The Wisconsin Supreme Court decision from yesterday requires that in-person voting today, April 7, 2020 proceed as scheduled. The County Executive’s Order cannot override the state Supreme Court.
If you have not and will not vote absentee, and you wish to vote, your only option is to vote in-person today at your polling place. Please wear a mask and strictly observe social distancing. The polls will be open until 8:00 pm tonight.
The U.S. Supreme Court ruled regarding the changes to the processing of absentee ballots. The important takeaway for voters is this: If you want your absentee ballot to count, the ballot must either (a) be postmarked today; or (b) turned into the proper location in person by 8pm tonight – NOT APRIL 13th.
As long as your ballot is postmarked today and received by your municipal clerk by 4:00 pm on Monday, April 13th, it will be counted.
No votes will be tallied at the polling place tonight. All tabulation will take place during the municipal board of canvass meeting following the extended absentee ballot return deadline of 4:00 pm on April 13, 2020.
