COVID-19 UPDATE

The Clark County Health Department (CCHD) and their local partners are working tremendously hard to protect the county and our community members. We are confirming that since Tuesday, April 13, the last nine positive COVID-19 cases have been in close contact with one another. This emphasizes the rate at which this virus can spread and the importance of taking measures to protect yourself through social distancing, good hand hygiene, and limited face-to-face contact with others.

The CCHD understands that the public may have questions regarding this new information. The staff at the CCHD are focusing their efforts on closely monitoring the positive cases and their close contacts. As more tests become available, the number of confirmed cases are likely to increase. Testing is the key to identifying the impact of COVID-19 in Clark County. The safest way to help stop the spread of COVID-19 is to treat it as though it is everywhere and to follow the Safer at Home Order.

At this time, the CCHD would like to direct the public to the Wisconsin Department of Health Services (DHS) website, for information regarding county-specific and state investigation details: https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/outbreaks/index.htm. This link includes public data related to positive case counts, deaths, county-level details, hospital capabilities, and more.

Please consider the following information while viewing the DHS mapped cases by county and census tract data: https://www.dhs.wisconsin.gov/covid-19/cases-map.htm.  Mapped data from DHS is assembled, updated, and shared at the state-level.

 Mapped data does not show areas with less than five positive cases. Census tracts (areas) with 0-4 positive cases are in white, making it seem like these areas have no positive cases; when in fact, there are confirmed cases in other areas of Clark County.

If you have questions or concerns regarding COVID-19, please call the CCHD at 715-743-5105 and select 9 for the COVID-19 line or call 2-1-1.
