The Clark County Sheriff's Office is accepting applications for the Patrol Captain in the Sheriff's Office. This is an exempt position currently listed in Range D of the Clark County Non-Union Salary and Wage Schedule with a 2020 starting pay rate of $32.50 - $34.53 per hour dependent upon qualifications.
Interested candidates must be 18 years of age, a US citizen, possess a valid Wisconsin driver's license, and have a high school diploma or GED certificate. The successful candidate must be Wisconsin Law Enforcement Standards Board certified. An Associate Degree or above in Police Science, Criminal Justice or equivalent is preferred, however, in evaluating candidates for the position, the Clark County Law Enforcement / Emergency Management Committee may consider a combination of education, training and experience which provides the necessary knowledge, skills and abilities to perform the duties of the position. Five years of supervisory experience is required. In addition to the standard requirements of a department employee, the successful candidate must also possess effective communication, organizational, leadership skills and should possess a strong knowledge of law enforcement and emergency service operations. Applicants must be physically and mentally able to perform the essential functions of the job, have good written and verbal communication skills, excellent moral character, and be able to type.
Offers of employment will be contingent upon successful completion of a psychological examination, as well as drug screen testing. Candidates will also be required to successfully complete an extensive background investigation, including criminal history.
